Strelitzia Nicolai - Birds of Paradise

The Strelitzia nicolai, commonly known as the Bird of Paradise, is a spectacular architectural houseplant with large, paddle-shaped leaves that instantly create a lush tropical atmosphere. Plant Care

☀️ Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light and will happily tolerate several hours of direct sun each day. The brighter the location, the stronger and healthier the growth.

💧 Water
Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Reduce watering during winter.

💨 Humidity
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to average household conditions.

🌡️ Temperature
Thrives between 18–30°C. Protect from cold draughts and temperatures below 10°C.

🌱 Feeding
Feed every 2–4 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter.

Every Strelitzia nicolai is unique. Leaf size and natural splits may vary depending on the season and growing conditions. As the leaves mature, they naturally develop splits, which is a normal adaptation to wind in their natural habitat and not a sign of damage.
