This rare plant, also known as Velvet Leaf Philodendron, is the perfect small space plant. Native to the Caribbean and Mexico, these plants have gorgeous velvety, heart-shaped leaves. Its curling leaves unfurl as they grow into a yellow to bright lime colour depending on the amount of natural light they have.
Usually displayed in hanging pots, trained in a moss pole or on a wall, as its aerial roots adhere to surfaces.
Not edible. Toxic if accidentally ingested.
Light: Best in moderate indirect sunlight, can tolerate bright light, but not direct sunlight. Perfect for shady spots as well. Turn the pot occasionally to encourage the leaves to develop in all directions.
Water: Keep the compost moist through the summer months, but be careful to not overwater your plant as it can lead to root rot. During winter, reduce the water regime by half. This plant will tolerate some degree of drought better than having its roots too wet.
