Hibiscus rosa-sinensis variegata

A striking tropical hibiscus with beautiful cream-and-green variegated foliage and vibrant red blooms. Hibiscus rosa-sinensis ‘Variegata’ brings an exotic feel to patios, conservatories, and bright indoor spaces. Care tips

Light
Prefers bright light or full sun. The more light it receives, the more flowers it will produce.

Water
Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry.

Temperature
A warm-loving tropical plant. Best kept above 12–15°C. In Ireland it’s ideal for indoors, greenhouses, or sheltered patios in summer.

Humidity
Enjoys moderate humidity. Occasional misting can help if the air indoors is very dry.

Feeding
Feed every 2–3 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser to encourage flowering.

Pruning
Light pruning in late winter or early spring helps maintain shape and encourages bushier growth.

Pet safety
Generally considered non-toxic to pets, though pets should not eat plant material.
